Because motherhood will never be a perfect science

on August 7, 2012

Like other parents, I definitely have ‘visions of grandeur’ when it comes to my kids and who they will be once they grow up. Doctors, lawyers, celebrities and so on. If one of them sings a song that is even slightly in tune, I think ‘Yup, she’s gonna be a great singer!’ or if one of them says something really funny or shows even the slightest comedic timing, there I am thinking ‘ Wow, I wonder if I should get her into acting?’.

I know, we all think our kids are super talented and why shouldn’t we?

With the Olympics on, I’ve been trying to reign in my imagination. Believe me, it’s running wild! Especially when I see these young women competing so brilliantly in so many different fields; I’m always telling my 5 year old that she can do and be anything she wants to be, all it takes is practice. At her age, the world is so full of possibilities; so far she’s decided that she will be a skate boarding, hip hop dancing, gymnastics singer.

Yup, that’s my Diva!

I’ve been trying to get her to watch a little of the Olympics with me, mainly track and field and swimming. She’s taking swimming lessons and she loves it. But she is also one of those kids that can’t sit still. She runs everywhere! Walking is pretty much foreign to her and she’s been that way since the day she was born….ALWAYS IN A RUSH! So I figure, she might just end up being the female version of Usain Bolt one day.

Hey, it could happen!

I just need to convince her to look where she’s going! Maybe I’ll stock up on extra band-aids
