Because motherhood will never be a perfect science

on November 26, 2012

Sundays are for sleeping in until 8 or 9 am, when the sun is at its height and lazily sipping that first cup of coffee.

Okay, that’s all a fanciful wish when you have kids, but I can dream can’t I?

I love Sunday mornings, for that relaxed and lazy feeling that it brings. Unlike Saturdays, that are full of that “How much can I get done?” mentality that comes the day after your last workday. Well, for most of us anyway. Sundays, represent either a time of worship, meditation, quiet moments or quality family time. Sunday dinners are usually big fare and promised leftovers until at least Tuesday. It’s time to make sure that the kids have completed their homework. In our house, it’s hair washing day. Oh joy!

Sundays are for going out or staying in but not stressing about it one way or the other. If someone invites you to a birthday party on a Sunday, you are usually quite annoyed because they are cutting into your “I don’t have to go out today if I don’t want to” time and it makes the day seem shorter rather than longer.

I love Sunday afternoons, for that opportunity to sneak in an illicit nap. Falling asleep on the couch with my toddler as we watch a Disney movie and tricking my five year old into lying down for some quiet time even though she’s absolutely positive that she’s not tired! Wait…is that her snoring like a trucker??? Score one for mom!

Aaaahhhh…Sundays are the best!

Until you remember that tomorrow is Monday!

Wow…way to put a downer on things, huh?

  1. Kai says:

The only problem with Sunday is Monday. So right.

  2. How we sih that Sunday would be followed by more Sundays – but yes your are right – different mentality completely on a Saturday to a Sunday ..strange but true.
