Because motherhood will never be a perfect science

The best smiles:

When my daughters are just waking from a good night’s sleep and I tickle their toes and the tips of their noses.

When they see me waiting at the door for them when they get home from school and daycare.

When they tell me a joke and I laugh…even though it really isn’t that funny.

When I hug them and tell them that they smell like strawberries and chocolate and other yummy stuff.

When they’re playing…without fighting and don’t realize that I’m watching

My best smile?

When I watch them in sleep or in play and remember pregnancies and baby stages and realize how much they’ve changed and are continually changing….

Sigh…I smile and my heart aches just a tiny bit.
