Tears 2 days before because Baby Girl was going to miss us all having fun together like we did this summer.
Feeling disorganized and not equipped to handle the new school year right up until I dropped them off this morning.
Realizing my friends were going through some of the same things.
Yup…another school year has begun!
2nd week of school over…
Very little homework…
Made quite a few friends!
So far so good!
How are your kids doing after 2 weeks of school?

Woo hoo! Its finally here! They’re back at school for another year.
Can someone tell me where the nearest group of parents are currently celebrating?
So every year like most parents, I am in Back to School mode. Which means shopping…which means new clothes, new shoes, and new school supplies. Backpacks, lunch bags, pencils, pens and on and on.
This year I asked the girls to take inventory of their supplies so that I could avoid what usually happens…duplication of stuff. Of course, after a week of asking, I did it myself. You know what I discovered?
These kids don’t need anything!
Diva Girl is going into grade 6 so I may need to get her a decent calculator and some mechanical pencils. Maybe…
But after organizing all their erasers, sharpeners, pencil crayons, etc into individual Ziploc bags and threatening a life without electronic devices if they fail to maintain order, I’ve decided that I’m not buying anything. Not even new backpacks. The ones from last year are perfectly fine (I washed them). Some of you may be thinking “big deal” but for someone like me and my DH, this is a revolution! We love to shop. Mind you, we still got them new clothes and sneakers.
We’re not monsters.
Back to school is right around the corner and the kids are so excited.
Ya right. They’re filled with dread. Homework, rules, structure, homework…
Parents are happy though, right? Of course!
Fighting to get the kids in bed on time. Fighting to get them up on time. Yelling to get them out of the house on time. Making lunches every day. Asking them why they didn’t eat the lunch you made.
Let’s hear it for back to school!
Time really does fly doesn’t it?
I mean with wings and all!
One day it was Baby Girl’s 5th birthday and the next we are in August and I’m going through their closets to determine what is needed for back to school.
Back to the regular routine and rushing the girls every morning to get ready…
Arguing about clothes, breakfast and moving just a little faster.
We’ve had a really good summer, I guess that’s why I’m having a hard time thinking about getting back into the school routine.
Maybe it’ll be me that has to be told to hurry up and eat my breakfast on that first day.
Back to school tomorrow!
Can I get a YAY! YIPPEE! WOO HOO!
What? Too much?
No more trying to figure out how to keep the kids entertained and out of trouble 8 hours a day every day including weekends!
“Mommy I’m bored!” will be reduced to more manageable evenings and perhaps Saturdays and Sundays. But can always be combatted with homework, bath time and early bedtimes.
I can see it now…evenings of peaceful bliss, no squabbling, no yelling or crying. Just the soft snores of very tired children.
Did I mention that Baby girl is starting school too?
Two kids in school = no daycare!
No more daycare = MORE MONEY
Mama needs a new pair of shoes!
Kidding! Stay tuned!
